Zen-Zentren | International Zen Institute of America and Europe (IZIAE)

The International Zen Institute of America and Europe was founded in 1983 by Zen master Gesshin Myoko Prabhasa Dharma in Los Angeles. The aim of the IZIAE is to propagate Zen Buddhist teaching and practice throughout western society.
In March 2005 IZIAE moved from Los Angeles to Wapserveen in the Netherlands.
The present spiritual leader of IZIAE, Jiun Hogen, Roshi lives in the Netherlands. She resides in the International Zen Center Noorder Poort.

Although the official language of Noorder Poort is English, the language used at any given time is tailored to the needs of those present. During retreats, for example, Dharma talks are usually given in Dutch and German or Dutch and English.

Several Zen teachers are connected with IZIAE and offer various forms of Zen training.

National institutes - IZI's of ..- have been founded in Florida, The Netherlands, Germany and Spain. They support Zen activities on a national and administrative level.
